The XO Laptop - The Hundred-dollar Laptop For the ‘One Laptop Per Child’ Foundation
The XO laptop (nickname of the hundred-dollar laptop) is the focus of the One Laptop Per Child's mission. The laptop was designed by experts in the industry and built by Quanta. It was specially built to a flexible, responsive, ultra - low cost, highly efficient, long-lived from the beginning.
The 7.5 "screen provides alternative forms of display: transferable, full color, full of lights and a reflective mode, the screen black and white but still readable in sunlight. In theThe latter mode, it consumes just 0.2 watts. The transmitted light mode still consumes about one watt, but this is still about one seventh of the industry average LCD laptop.
Further savings are achieved by the CPU, the suspension of operations selectively cutting the need for power. All of these energy saving initiatives mean that the XO laptop uses roughly one tenth the power of a commercial laptop - just 2Watt!

A full-time wireless route is appropriate, making it very own mesh network 'out of the box'. This provides crucial access to the Internet with his children vast resources of information, communication and entertainment to enjoy and be linked to other children, teachers and families.
XO is fully compliant with the RoHS EU directive, do not contain hazardous materials. TheBatteries include battery management for longer life cycle of recharge improved. If the direct power is not available, the XO laptop will be solar powered or manual, have various options of a crank, a pedal or a pull-chord.
Shelf life from the outset was an important function. The need for it to appeal to her target group, children were also taken into account, so weight and also provides important topics.
Consequently, the XO laptop is about the size of a textbookThe edges are rounded and not weigh more than the average lunchbox (approximetly 1.5 per kg depending on battery). The "transformer hinge" allows you as an e-book function, game console and a standard laptop. The child-interface has a rubber-membrane keyboard and a dual-mode, extra-wide touchpad for the Note, drawing and writing.
More robustness comes from the lack of moving parts and the hard drive, which is statistically likely doomed to failure. The walls are almosttwice as thick as in standard laptops to 2mm. Protection of the USB ports comes from the mesh network antennas, including the display by padded internal "bumpers."
The XO laptop, with an estimated 5 years life span. Before they were sent first to have the laptops to ruthless exposure tests, often to the destruction of the durability of man and machine … and ensure that child.

Very good and fast for basic productivity software such as email, internet, photo sharing and basic. For a light, mobile complement to a desktop or laptop computer, and is the main brand. Better or... Read more reviews | ||
